UBHCHY Coalition

The Upper Bucks Healthy Communities Healthy Youth (UBHCHY) Initiative in Upper Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is part of a larger movement involving over 500 communities throughout the United States and Canada using a framework called “asset development” by Search Institute of Minneapolis. Search Institute is an independent, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization whose mission is to advance the well-being of adolescents and children by generating knowledge and promoting its application.

justCommunity, Inc., is the coordinating agency and fiscal agent for UBHCHY. The UBHCHY Coalition represents all of the municipalities of the Palisades, Pennridge and Quakertown school districts. The UBHCHY Coalition is also a member of the Bucks Promise for Healthy Communities and Youth. The UBHCHY is partially funded through a federal grant from the Drug Free Communities Support Program.

justCommunity’s goals for UBHCHY encompass community, asset-building and positive trending results.

Community is the basis of the Upper Bucks Healthy Communities Healthy Youth Initiative taking root in the Pennsylvania communities of Quakertown and Pennridge. UBHCHY is part of a larger national movement involving over 500 communities throughout the United States and Canada who are using “asset development” to advance the well-being of adolescents and children.

Asset-Building is asking for commitments from adults to be “intentional” and more mindful in their interactions with youth. It isn’t about creating more programs or activities for youth. It is about integrating asset-building into every program that already exists.

Results are the focus of our initiative. We look at data to identify needs, target our efforts and measure success.
